Lecture. {ths} on typoraphy, design and art. 29th of May

On Beauty, Ugliness, Not Only in Typography.

{ths}

Date: 29th of May 2010
Hour: 19:00 – 21:00
Place: Design BWA Wroclaw Gallery | Swidnicka Str. 2-4

{ths} will hold a speech about typography, design and art. To him the classical borders that are drawn between commercial and non-commercial art are blurred. The three disciplines are strongly influencing each other, so that that one couldn’t exist without the other. Whatever {ths} is working on, he is looking for the beauty of imperfection. Every typeface and every design needs a certain amount of ugliness to become interesting and beautiful in a deeper and more touching way than superficial beauty could be.

NEXT, A Primer on Urban Painting
dir. Pablo Aravena

Documentary explores graffiti-based visual art as a world culture. The filmmaker profiles the art form in nine countries including USA, Canada, France, Holland, Germany, England, Spain, Japan and Brazil. A combination of “vérité” moments and interviews with painters, “writers”, designers, documentarians and other participants within the subculture, the film conveys the dynamism and creative energy of this significant emerging artistic movement.

Among presented artists are Heavyweight, Delta, Barnstormers and Banksy – all to the accompaniment of Sixtoo and Diplo.

Documentary was shown on many international festivals, i.e. Rotterdam International Film Festival, Urban Stories Brusseles, Melbourne International Film Festival, Rhythm of The Line Berlin.

The screening in English.

Big thanks to Pablo Aravena!

BAABA (Warszawa)

Wraz z wydaniem drugiej płyty „Con Gas!’ powstaje skład koncertowy, obecnie tworzony przez Tomasza Dudę (saksofony, flet, sampler), Bartosza Webera (gitara, sampler), Piotra Zabrodzkiego (bas) i Macia Morettiego (perkusja). Baaba koncertuje w Polsce i zagranicą (Anglia, Francja, Niemcy, Słowacja, Czechy, Rosja), zarówno w klubach, jak i podczas uznanych festiwali elektronicznych i jazzowych (Fertilizer Festival, SKIF Festival, Warsaw Summer Jazz Days, Astigmatic, Les Nuits Europeenes, Terra Polska, Unsound Festival, Off Festival).

Muzyka transowa i senna,”czarno-biała”, a jednocześnie intensywna i wyrazista.
